Welcome to my Fasting Resource. The videos and links below will give you all the information and inspiration you need to get started on a fasting lifestyle. Before you delve in, I must give a DISCLAIMER that I am not a doctor or a medical professional and simply sharing what made me successful at reaching my weight loss goal and reaching it quickly. Please consult your doctor before beginning a fasting protocol. So here we go - After years of yo-yo dieting and weight cycling, I had to get serious about my health when my doctor told me I had high cholesterol following a routine physical exam and labs. Since I have done all these fad diets from Atkins to Keto to green smoothie diets, I was done with the yo-yo effects of these diets and decided to adopt water-only fasting after doing extensive research on the benefits of prolonged fasting. Four days of fasting and three days refeeding was my weapon of choice and I did this every week until I reached my goal.

As I started with the 4:3 fasting schedule, I quickly learned from experience that it is very important to use tie-on waist beads as a tracker when on a fasting protocol. The reason is after my first fast was over, when I started refeeding, I gained weight and seeing that I gained back some of the weight after refeeding was discouraging and almost led to me giving up. However, based on a recent study at TrueNorth Health Center, I learned that you gain back water weight, fiber, glycogen and protein and not the fat that you actually lost during fasting, so I didn't appear bigger or fatter after refeeding because I was eating a healthy plant base diet with some fish. During this fragile phase, I didn't go by what the scale was saying but on how my waist beads fit me. As my waist beads continue to drop and sometimes fit exactly the same way it did when I was fasting, it served as a constant reminder of the progress I was making so I did not give up and continued with my 4:3 fasting as the weeks progressed.

Moreover, it is equally as important to not overeat during refeeding and the tie-on waist beads helped me a great deal. The reason is, when you are eating your meals, you'll notice a gentle tug as the waist beads pull tighter against your belly when you have had enough to eat and the waist beads will pull even tighter and get very uncomfortable if you were to eat any more. Feeling this tension on my waist beads was a very effective reminder for me as someone who was committed to my weight loss journey. Sometimes all we need is a little reminder to keep us on track. 

In conclusion, what worked for me was combining the 4:3 fasting schedule with wearing tie-on waist beads to track my progress. These 2 amazing protocols work great together. As a result I lost 25 pounds and my cholesterol is back to normal. This led me to have an epiphany that no other diet on earth can compare with zero calories in; which is what those 4 days of fasting is.

1. Getting yourself in that state of mind to go on a fast could be very challenging. However, you can achieve massive weight loss with great information and resources that keep you motivated and focused as all battles are first won and lost in the mind. Therefore, I strongly recommend that you bookmark this page, immerse yourself in it and only watch and read only fasting content while you are fasting.
2. If you have a family or roommate, inform them and everyone around you of your fast so that they can help keep you accountable and be supportive of your goal.
3. If you are a mom/wife and responsible for cooking for your family then you must meal prep for them for the days that you will be fasting. This will ensure that you won't have to go in the kitchen or very minimally when you are fasting. For me, I did all my big cooking on the weekends i.e. one of my refeeding days and made enough food to last the family for  the next 4 days. I made sure the fridge was packed with food so they won't come and bother me about being hungry or giving me a reason to step in the kitchen🙂. I actually avoided the kitchen for those 4 days and kept 4 gallons of water in my room for my fast.
4. If you live alone, I recommend that you empty out your fridge, dispose of all snacks and only have water at home during your fast. This will bring you one step closer to a successful fast as there won't be much temptation. 
5. Subscribe to Dr. Mindy Plez on YouTube. She is a women's fasting expert and on a mission to teach over a million people on the benefits of a fasting lifestyle. She releases videos every week that I find very informative and practical and goes Live on YouTube on Thursdays to answer questions you may have on fasting. She also has a program called the Reset Experience if you want to fast with a virtual community.
6. Download a fasting app to help track your progress. I use the one on Google Play and what I love most about it is that it reminds me to drink water in addition to showing me what level I am in my fast.
